Our courses are tailored to your exact needs: whether for travel, business, college requirements, tutoring or your own pleasure. We will design a specific program for you.

 

Our instructors are all trained teachers and NATIVE SPEAKERS. We feel that it is imperative for students to hear the proper accent and to work with teachers who are relaxed, confident and comfortable in their own language.

 

Our method: We use a stimulating, conversational approach that permits the student to speak the language from the first day of class.  Our method is designed to teach the new language by listening and repeating.  You hear the language the way people really speak it and get plenty of oral practice, so that you feel confident to use the language on your own. No mental translations will slow you down and before you know it, you will be “thinking” in your new language. Grammar is taught in the context of the spoken language and since you will be speaking correctly from the first day, you will be learning the correct grammar right along with your oral practice.  And you will have a lot of fun!

 

Language Instruction for Children:

 

We offer Private, Semi-Private and Group Lessons.

 

The Best Time for children to learn a foreign language is the time they are learning their own language or as close to that time as possible.  The sooner a child starts to learn a second language, the fast he/she will absorb it and the easier it will be later on in life to master several foreign languages.  We start to teach children at 3-4 years of age, when their attention span warrants a class of 30 minutes or more, depending upon the child.  Older children usually take classes that are 40 or 55 minutes long.

 

Our Method: Children learn best by doing, and language is a skill that should be learned just like any other activity – by active participation.  In our language classes, the foreign language is spoken from the first day of class.  Foreign games, toys and songs are employed to involve the children actively and to give them a chance to use the foreign language immediately. As the children progress from the basic to the more advanced levels, reading and writing is incorporated in the instruction.  Please ask to see our proprietary “The Language School” 10-level curriculum.

 

 

 

 

Language Instruction for Adults:

 

We offer Private, Semi-Private and Group Lessons.

 

Private Lessons: This is the best and most efficient way to learn a foreign language.  The student receives the undivided attention of the instructor and has the advantage of speaking and hearing the language for the entire lesson.  The instructor can tailor the materials, method and vocabulary to the exact needs of the particular students who need to learn quickly, for intensive courses or tutoring.  Students can take one or more lessons per week. Private lessons offer the greatest flexibility in terms of scheduling and learning rate.

 

Semi-private lessons: For students who would like to study with a friend or relative.  Sometimes we are also able to furnish our students with a partner.

 

Group Lessons (for beginners only): For students who enjoy working towards their goals with others and who like the interaction of a group.  While a group does not offer the same learning rate or flexibility as private instruction, it is just the answer for students who are under no time pressure.  Groups usually meet once a week in the evenings.

Can anyone learn a foreign language?

Indeed, anyone can. Rates of progress differ from person to person and depend on many factors; level of interest and motivation, time spent outside the classroom practicing, age, and talent (just like with music or sports, affinity is a factor) and numbers of classes a student takes. But, anyone can learn and enjoy a foreign language at any age.

 

Do your classes go year round?

Absolutely. The only week we are closed is between Christmas and New Year.

 

What do I need to do to sign up?

Please ask for an enrollment form, fill it out, mail or fax it back and let us know the program, language, your level and your schedule. In order to reserve a certain class, we need either a deposit or prepayment for the class. All of this can be done over the phone; we accept all major credit cards.

 

When do classes start?

Classes start year round. Private lessons can start at any time you are ready. Just give us a week or two to schedule. For group lessons we need a minimum of three students with compatible schedules. As soon as we have three students ready to go, we start the group. Please call to get on a waiting list.

 

How long does it take to learn a foreign language?

It takes many years of intensive study. But much is gained from knowing even the basics. Anyone who has traveled into a foreign country can attest to that. We will be happy to help you attain the goals you set for yourself.
